Enable Hotspots

We apologize, but as of September 9, 2013, Hotspot Access is no longer available as an add-on service. If you have purchased an Eyefi card that includes the Hotspot Access service, it will still be supported and you can enable it in your Eyefi Center account when you initialize your card.

If you previously purchased a card that offered a year of free Hotspot Access, or you added it as an additional service through your Eyefi Center account, you will no longer be able to renew the service when it expires.

If you do have a card with this service enabled, this article will explain how to enable your service.  Please follow the instructions below to enable Hotspots.

Note: Hotspots have the lowest network priority. Eyefi cards will only connect to a hotspot if there are no configured private networks in range and Direct Mode is not enabled. As such, the Eyefi card network priority is:

  1. Ad-Hoc connections
  2. Infrastructure WLAN
  3. Direct Mode
  4. Hotspot

Enable the Eyefi hotspot service

  1. After installing Eyefi Center, insert your Eyefi card into the USB card reader.
  2. Insert the USB card reader into your computer.
  3. Launch Eyefi Center, if it is not already running.
  4. Log into Eyefi Center.
  5. Click the Settings icon next to your Eyefi card's name.
  6. Select the Networks tab under Card Settings.
  7. Select the Public Hotspots tab.
  8. Click the Connect to Hotspots and Open Networks check box in the Enable section.
  9. Click the Save button. Your Eyefi card can now use supported hotspots.
