Manage Network Profiles

Follow

The Networks Settings Panel allows you to manage the wireless networks an Eyefi Card uses to transfer media and to enable and disable the Eyefi Hotspot service. You can store up to 32 network profiles on a card.

Adding or changing your Eyefi Card's networks settings requires that the card is inserted in your computer with Eyefi Helper and Eyefi Center running. All network names, passwords, and settings are stored on your Eyefi Card in a private partition. Because this partition is secure, your Eyefi card may be formatted without losing any of your networks settings.

Eyefi Center allows you to add a local wireless network in range of your Eyefi Card while connected to the internet as well as a remote or "Out of Range" wireless network.

Add a local wireless network

  1. Insert your Eyefi Card into the USB card reader.
  2. Insert the USB card reader into your computer.
  3. Launch Eyefi Helper and Eyefi Center if they are not already running.
  4. Click the Settings icon to the right of your Eyefi Card icon.
  5. Select the Networks tab.
  6. Select the Private Networks tab.
  7. In the Add section use the Click to Select drop-down menu.
  8. Select the available network you want to add.
  9. Enter the network password.
  10. Click the Add Network to Card button.

Eyefi Center will take a few moments to connect to the network, verify your password, and contact the Eyefi Server. Once the network has been successfully added, the network name will be listed in the Manage section.

Add a remote wireless network

  1. Follow steps 1-6 above.
  2. Choose Other Network from the drop-down menu.
  3. Choose the Security type from the Select Security Type drop-down menu.
  4. Enter the network name in the field next to the Other Network drop-down menu.
  5. Enter the network password.
  6. Check Network is out of range checkbox.
  7. Click the Add Network to Card button.

Eyefi Center will take a few moments to add the network to your card. Once the network has been successfully added, the network name will be listed in the Manage section of the dialog.

Enable hotspot access

We apologize, but as of September 9, 2013, Hotspot Access is no longer available as an add-on service. If you have purchased an Eyefi card that includes the Hotspot Access service, it will still be supported and you can enable it in your Eyefi Center account when you initialize your card.

If you previously purchased a card that offered a year of free Hotspot Access, or you added it as an additional service through your Eyefi Center account, you will no longer be able to renew the service when it expires.

If you do have a card with this service enabled, this information will help you enable that service.

If your card includes the Eyefi Hotspot Access service, you can enable or disable the ability of your card to take advantage of AT&T WiFi Hotspots, EasyWifi Hotspots, and HarborLink hotspots, as well as open networks (networks with no security or splash screen). To enable Hotspot Access:

  1. Insert your Eyefi Card into the USB card reader.
  2. Insert the USB card reader into your computer.
  3. Launch the Eyefi Helper and Eyefi Center if they are not already running.
  4. Click the Settings icon to the right of your Eyefi Card icon.
  5. Select on the Networks tab of the card settings dialog.
  6. Select the Public Networks tab of the settings dialog.
  7. In the Enable section select the Connect to Wayport Hotspots and Open Networks check box.
  8. Then click the I agree to the Acceptable Use Policy check box that appears.
  9. Click the Save button.
